Dynamic Financial Planning and Analysis role in a leading global organization

AkzoNobel’s Industrial Chemicals (IC) business unit (BU) produces and markets high purity salt, chlorine, caustic lye, hydrochloric acid, chloromethanes and monochloroacetic acid (MCA). These products are essential to daily life and used in the manufacture of vehicles, glass, performance plastics, pharmaceuticals, feed and foodstuffs, textiles and disinfectants. IC has a global presence with plants and joint ventures in the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, the USA, China and Japan. IC is part of AkzoNobel Specialty Chemicals. 

IC incorporates an FP&A team that cooperates closely with Business and Integrated Supply Chain Controller. Within this context, your role is to help drive the effective execution of the planning and forecasting cycle, monthly reporting, and analysis. In doing so, you ensure and develop alignment with the Business and Integrated supply chain(ISC) teams, Accounting and Consolidation team, as well as with peers in other BUs and HQ. You also assume primary responsibility as a business partner for the functional teams of the BU. As such, this role provides an excellent opportunity to gain valuable oversight of the BU landscape as well as key processes across the wider AkzoNobel Finance community, which lays a good foundation for other finance business controlling roles.

The role and its responsibilities
Working from the AkzoNobel Center in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, you will support the FP&A Manager and BU Controller with the overall budget and forecasting process – from model creation to analytical support along with monthly reporting as well as working on various financial analyses and other ad hoc projects. You will also be responsible for the Competence Team and Functions Analysis and for reporting and budgeting. Throughout, you will act as a business partner for cost control.
You will also be the finance focal point for the Continuous Improvement Tool in the Business Unit offering support to all sites and the BU Continuous Improvement Team. You should be able to contribute to ongoing continuous improvement projects and generate relevant reports and deliver process optimizations. You will also support RDI for various subsidies applications and for monitoring costs on a project level. 
As such, it is essential that you are able to operate effectively in a hybrid organizational set-up.

Candidate profile
To apply for this position you must possess all the following attributes:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics/Finance/Controlling;
  • Strong analytical skills, system capabilities, structured process oriented;
  • Up to 2 years of relevant experience could be an advantage;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills including fluent written and spoken English.
