To support the client global expansion the company is significantly expanding their development team. The team currently consists of Front- and Back-End Developers as well as UX Designers, split over four scrum teams. The technology powering the clients platform is based on object-oriented PHP5; virtually all of their systems have been developed in-house. They are currently transitioning into a service-oriented architecture, powered by their own RESTful API. In parallel they are scaling their infrastructure out into AWS in order to get maximum benefit out of the large variety of infrastructure-as-a-service approaches currently offered. As Back-End Developer you will play an important role in further developing and rolling out their RESTful API, which will be at the base of all their current and future products. Your responsibilities range from working on the core of their systems all the way up to producing proof-of-concept web applications. The Front-End Developers will help you to turn your proof-of-concept applications into true “online experiences”. In one sentence, your main purpose is to design & implement functional web interfaces and the full structure behind it. You will work in a multidisciplinary scrum team of about five people, taking input from their graphic designers, UX Designers and their Student- and University Value teams in order to realize the best implementations possible. In order to measure their effectiveness they are currently focusing very hard on their continuous deployment process.

Tipical Questions
“What are your strengths and weaknesses?” It’s easy to talk about your strengths; you’re detail oriented, hard working, a team player, etc.–but it’s also easy to get tripped up when discussing your weaknesses, Teach says. Never talk about a real weakness unless it’s something you’ve defeated. “Many hiring managers are hip to the overused responses, such as, ‘Well, my biggest weakness is that I work too hard so I need try to take it easy once in a while.’ The best answer is to discuss a weakness that you’ve turned around, such as, you used to come in late to work a lot but after your supervisor explained why it was necessary for you to come in on time, you were never late again.”
